Kate Laurence
Kate was born in Austin, Texas and lived in Texas all her life until moving to Florida. She has four siblings and is the second born of the crew. Her parents, Mark and Kathleen Laurence, have always told her to follow the Lord’s leading in life and to be careful to listen and obey it. So, during high school she felt led to look into going on a mission trip. She didn’t know where to start. In her senior year, while Kate’s mom was on a conference call she heard one of the participants mention that their daughter was on a mission trip with Teen Missions. Kathleen looked through the website and found the link to the Sojourner School of Ministry, which she then shared with Kate.
Kate has always loved theatrics and children/youth ministry, so Kate was excited to see that Teen Missions uses puppets and dramas to share God’s Word. That led her to apply and she was then accepted into Sojourner. Kate decided it would be best for her to learn more about the ministry, so she served on the Taiwan 2023 team. During that summer she learned many things including how to rely on God even through fearful times and what hard work really looks like.
She is planning to begin her internship in September 2025, splitting her time between two countries in Asia. She is excited for this opportunity to work in Asia, as she has been praying that the Lord will lead her steps in where to go.
