Delaynie Myhre Newsletter (Fall 2024)
Hello Everyone,
I’m so excited to share the incredible experiences I had this summer! After a whirlwind of activity, I’ve finally had a chance to reflect on all that’s happened.
A significant portion of my summer was spent in Colombia leading a team of 14 teenagers on a mission trip. We served at a camp in a town called Sylvania, and I was continually amazed by the hard work and dedication of my team members. Their insights and experiences broadened my perspective in countless ways, and in some respects, I felt like they were leading me more than I was leading them.
While the summer was filled with challenges, these trials proved to be invaluable lessons. I discovered areas where my faith was lacking, and I recognized instances where I relied too heavily on my own strength rather than the Lord’s.
Colombia quickly captured my heart. The culture was vibrant, and the people were incredibly hospitable. They treated us with such kindness and generosity, even as we served them. Our team was tasked with building fencing around the camp property, as well as a sidewalk and patio for a staff family. These projects were physically demanding, but my team’s unwavering faith and commitment to the work inspired me every day. Despite numerous challenges, we grew stronger together as a team.
Ten days before our departure for Colombia, we participated in a Teen Missions missionary training program known as Boot Camp. Unfortunately, my team at Boot Camp struggled with unity. I prayed fervently for the Lord to bring them together, and I was overjoyed when their attitudes completely shifted upon arriving in Colombia. They worked as a family, and I couldn’t have been prouder of their accomplishments.
One of our work projects required a 30-minute hike up a mountain to build fencing. It was a challenging climb, but my team persevered. I personally attempted the hike twice, but decided against doing it again.
The transformation of my team from Boot Camp to the end of the summer was truly remarkable. It was incredibly encouraging to witness the Lord’s work through them and our leadership in Colombia. Colombia is in the process of becoming a Teen Missions base, and I’m excited to be part of that growth and see the future of missions in the country.
As the summer comes to a close, I’m also thrilled to announce my upcoming wedding! In August, I returned home to Virginia for my bridal shower, and it was heartwarming to see my church, friends, and family come together to celebrate.I’m so grateful for their love and support, as well as the support Will and I have received. By the time you receive this letter, we’ll likely be married. Our wedding is on September 21st, followed by a ten-day honeymoon in Greece. After that, we’ll return to Merritt Island and continue serving the Lord together. Will plans to work in the outside Maintenance Department, which is a perfect fit for him.
We’re currently in the fundraising phase for our new life together, and we ask for your prayers for the partners we will need to meet our monthly budget. We’re a little short of our goal, but we have faith that if this is where the Lord wants us to be, He will make it possible.
There’s a lot of exciting activity happening at Teen Missions. New bases, new staff, new students, and ongoing construction projects are transforming the entire property. It’s truly remarkable to witness Christ’s vision and the positive impact this ministry is having on the community.
Please keep the following in your prayers:
- Financial partners for our new life together
- Strength and wisdom
- That the Lord will use us for His glory and that we won’t rely on our own strength
I’m so thankful for your generosity and support for both myself and this ministry. I’m truly blessed to have such an amazing support system. Thank you so much for being a part of my journey.
