Robbie and Jen Edalgo (Fall 2024)

Hey Y’all from the Edalgo Family down yonder!  A tropical summer is hanging on in central FL!

“Hear me when I call, Oh God of my righteousness!  You have relieved me in my distress; have mercy on me, and hear my prayer.”  Psalm 4:1

FAMILY LIFE

We are all plugged in here in Merritt Island now:  Fisher (17 yrs), Aspen (15 yrs), and Rivers (13 yrs) enrolled in Merritt Island Christian School (MICS) through scholarships and are still meeting many friends there. Fisher’s football team has won their first 5 games and he’s seeing great playtime. He’s getting to know some Christian brothers—sometimes that looks like fishing on a boat in the Indian River!

Aspen and Rivers are running 3-4 miles six days a week for cross country and getting stronger by the day. The Lord is using their connection with Teen Missions with their track involvement to potentially plan MICS’s first “home” cross country meet on Teen Missions property! How exciting is this?? Can you imagine HUNDREDS of preteens, teens, and families ambling all over the 220 acre property? The chances are high that these folks will also learn about how they could launch themselves into a mission trip just miles away from their home. Many people we encounter locally don’t really know what Teen Missions has to offer—so the possibilities are wildly exciting to host a track meet! The classes at MICS are tough and the homework load intense, so they do need prayer to use/manage their time wisely.

Harvest (10 yrs) and Shepherd (4 yrs) are three weeks into Classical Conversations (CC) homeschooling. Harvest is fully embracing her second year of the writing curriculum called Essentials and is taking on more ownership in this class. She is now an American Heritage Girl and I am an assistant leader for her Troop 4321. They are learning Christian values and hope to go camping soon. We want to see all of the girls in the Troop born again—what a bold mission!  Shepherd is surely absorbing something in his CC class where I help out, but his attention span is about 1.5 minutes! We’re easing into introducing phonics & letters at home. He just started T-ball and Robbie is his Assistant Coach. The opportunities abound here too, because it’s not a Christian league. Everest (16 months) tags along everywhere and just started walking, or rather, wobbling!

FRUITFUL SUMMER

Of course, Teen Missions is very family-friendly. Because I have children under the age of five, I am blessed to be able to homeschool. I LOVE it here! Fisher joined a team ministering in Poland, while Rivers served in Zambia. Robbie literally laced up his leather boots and went to work on all sorts of facility and grounds projects that arose during Boot Camp and throughout the summer.  Staying here for the summer, we were a part of the “Launch Team.” He says the Lord was so merciful in helping along his limited knowledge of many projects he was assigned…plumbing galore (toilets, sinks, pipes needing repair), electrical, building floating docks for the water’s edge Galilean service at Boot Camp, mowing, weedeating, sawing down trees, chainsaw repair, bridge repair, wheelbarrow repair, ministering to co-workers, teaching evangelism, etc. He and another staffer got to lead one teen to Christ who was struggling at Boot Camp. Hallelujah! I’ve heard many stories of how the Lord moved in the summer mission trips. Boy, the spiritual warfare was real too though, so we need to lift up these teams every summer and pray as they take the Good News overseas to places that have demonic strongholds.

“The Light shines in the darkness, and the darkness can NEVER extinguish it.”  John 1:5

ROBBIE’S NEW RESPONSIBILITIES

Just a week ago, Robbie transitioned to working in the Administration Department of Teen Missions and boy does he feel like he’s in his sweet spot!  We are in awe at how the Lord has prepared him to help in this way through his past education and work experience!  Earning a B.S. in Wildlife Management and the years of working in Agriculture Extension with the public will be put to use as he’s the PROPERTY DEVELOPMENT COORDINATOR.  Being an assistant pastor, church planter, and pastor helped equip him to be the STAFF PASTOR here for the staff members and family working out of the U.S. base. His work at South GA Technical College teaching college and GED classes and earning his Ph.D. in Higher Education Administration from Liberty Univ. allow him to fulfill his third responsibility of INTERNATIONAL DEVELOPMENT COORDINATOR. He’ll get to assess the 36 bases in the following areas: Boot Camps, Rescue Units, Matron Units, Bible Schools and Circuit Rider ministries. The analysis will include the level of effectiveness related to their charters, language of operation as well as their current success rates. In addition, he will develop training materials and resources for Overseas Coordinators who operate Bible Schools and sustainable agriculture programs. Finally, to top this off, he gets to begin teaching a fall class on the book of Romans for the Sojourner School of Ministry on the Teen Missions base; there are 16 students now enrolled!

EDALGOS LEADING A 2025 TRIP?

We told the leadership that we’re willing (and eager) to lead a team this coming summer. All eight of us have our passports, praise the Lord!  We’d bring along Harvest, Everest and Shepherd wherever we may get assigned to help out. Wonder how many diapers I’ll need to pack?! This will be the FIRST time Robbie and I have ever been on a Teen Missions trip! I can’t wait to care for the team members we’re with and to disciple them; there will be so many opportunities. I can’t wait to grow spiritually myself. Aspen and Rivers are currently praying fervently about where to sign up for since they’ll need to leave the country with us, but they’re more than excited to get to go serve again somewhere. Fisher is undecided and praying about what to do this coming summer.  All of this amounts to a lot of prayer requests for us!!

RAISING FUNDS

We’re grateful to the Lord using so many of you to support us so that we’re fully funded to be here as full-time missionaries.  In order for our family to travel overseas on mission trips and lead, we’ll need to raise additional funds.  Please pray for us to raise these funds.  If you feel that the Lord is leading you to give, you can go to this link or scan the QR code:  https://teenmissions.org/missionary/edalgo

We love the ministry that God has given us here at Teen Missions!

Please let us know how we can pray for you. We are so grateful for your prayers for us and financial support. We couldn’t do it without you.

Running for Christ,

Robbie, Jen, Fisher, Aspen, Rivers, Harvest, Shepherd, & Everest
