Hello everyone!

Hello everyone!

The team has been blessed this past weekend with lots of fun outings and adventures.

On Friday our team got to assist the South African staff members butcher chickens. The team members were champs and handled it bravely. Even Miss Lauren slaughtered a chicken! The team helped pluck the chickens, gut them, and get them ready to be frozen for the Bible students to eat later.

On Saturday the team enjoyed a sightseeing day. We all went to the zoo! The zoo had loads of interesting animals. The team had a lot of fun teasing the monkeys and looking at the venomous snakes. They got to see rhinos, elephants, lions, tigers, and hippos! We were surprised by the large amount of different animals. Right outside the zoo are a bunch of souvenir shops. The kids were able to buy jewelry, wood carvings, paintings and walking sticks.

Sunday we headed out for our last church service in South Africa! The team did an awesome job performing. We were welcomed so warmly by the church. It was a blessing! After church the team worked on their memory verses, and played a bunch of fun group games. It was a restful Sunday of laughter and hanging out.

Sunday evening the team enjoyed a bonfire with s’mores with the staff and students. We had some spontaneous worship and sharing time that warmed the heart of the team members, leaders and staff. The team shared how grateful they were for all God has done this summer.

The team is back on the worksite. Before work each morning they’ve been attending chapel with the South African staff and students. This time of worship and sharing has been a huge blessing to us as a team.

The next to days the team is working on touching up, and finishing the final work on the bunk beds and painting. The roof is nearly completely patched. The team has accomplished a lot, and we’re excited for all that has been done!

Looking ahead, it’s our last week in South Africa. On Wednesday we leave for our 2 day safari. Thursday afternoon and Friday morning will mostly be packing and cleaning, then Friday afternoon we leave for the airport!

“It’s been pretty fun. My favorite part of the worksite is seeing the painted rooms get completed. God’s been teaching me a lot of patience.” - Katie

“It’s been really interesting. I like cow liver! God has been teaching me a lot about being patient and not getting frustrated over small things. The worksite has been a lot easier than I thought it would be.” - Rachel

Prayer Requests:

  • Please pray that the team would finish well and be diligent in what the Lord has for them this week.
  • Please pray for smooth packing and travel this coming weekend.
  • Please pray for God to continue to work in our hearts and lives.

We’ve been very blessed to have a few relaxing days of sightseeing!
